Lyle Steinman began competing at the tender
age of 8 years old.
He traveled all over the United States showing cattle.
While showing cattle Lyle
won over 300 championships on the county, state and national
levels. In 1982 at the Missouri State Fair he was award the
Grand Champion Showman award beating out 432 showmen. Lyle
started running UKC Night Hunts with his coon dogs as a teenager
and has since moved on to become one of the best retriever
trainers in the country.
Lyle competed with labs as an amateur for many years
before turning pro.
Since turning pro in 2003, Lyle has many accomplishments under
his belt. Lyle has
over 1700 AKC Master Passes and over 105 + AKC Master (MH)
titled dogs in the hunt test game; he has qualified a record
91dogs at the AKC Master National events.
He has 14 dogs in the Master National Hall of Fame (New
AKC title MNH ) and 21 dogs that have passed two Master
Nationals to his credit.

the 2011 AKC Master National in Cambridge, MD Lyle passed a new
AKC Record of 15 qualifiers.
On September 18, 2010 he broke an AKC
record for AKC Master passes in one weekend, passing 23/24 dogs
at the Northwest Missouri Retriever Clubs hunt test.
Lyle first ran the SRS (Super Retriever
Series) in the fall of 2006.
Lyle has 15 first place wins (including the 2007, 2009 &
2011 Super Retriever Series Crown Championships).
Lyle won the SRS Crown Championship in 2007 with River
(2007 SRSC SRS HRCH Big Two Hearted River II MNH7 HOF QAA) and
in 2009 & 2011 with Jack (2009 & 2011 SRSC 3 X SRS Fargo’s Gulf
Coast Jack-Son MNH QAA). Lyle
also won the 2008 Sport Dog Team of the year award with Jack
(Owned by John Caire & ZoomDog Supplements: Neal & Teresa
Lynch). By winning
the 2011 Super Retriever Series Crown Championship on May 15,
Lyle became the first handler to win three Crown Championships.
Lyle
is the only SRS handler to ever win 1st , 2nd
& 3 rd place in the same
event (Grand Island, NE,
September 2009) (SRS Record) and the only handler to ever have 9
dogs qualified for the top 12 at one time (Grand Island, NE).
Lyle has put more dogs in the Top 5 (53 in the Finals/ 73 in
Semis) than any other handler in Super Retriever Series history.
Lyle qualified 4 dogs for the 2008 Crown Championship and
qualified 7 dogs for the 2009 & 2010 Crown Championship (SRS
Records). Team Castile qualified 12 dogs for the 2011 SRS Crown
Championship. At the 2009
Super Retriever Series Crown Championship Lyle became the only
handler to put three dogs in the finals. Lyle finished the 2009
SRS Crown Championship with first (Jack), second (Rebi), third
(Coot), fifth (River) and sixth with (Pasha).

Currently, Lyle is sponsored by several

When Lyle is not training, he cherishes his
time with his wife and children.
Lyle and his wife, Debby, live in Gower
Missouri.
They have three daughters, Samantha (Aaron Priddy) 24,
Katherine 19, and Amanda 13. On March 2 ,2011 they welcomed
there first granddaughter Willa May Priddy.
Samantha is interested in art and graduated from Kansas
State in December 2009. Katie graduated from East Buchanan High
School. Katie attends University of Missouri in Columbia,
Missouri. Amanda is a
carbon copy of Lyle.
Amanda loves to train and watch her dad on the Versus channel.
Amanda is in the seventh grade at E.B. Middle School.
Lyle loves to train and enjoys cooking for
friends and family. The Steinman home is always open. Lyle finds
inspiration in a quote from River’s breeder, Daniel Shnitka. You
are remembered for what you achieve, honored for your success,
rewarded for your work and have the company of others for your
character.
